As a Unitarian Universalist proud of our liberal religious faith, I'm confident that environmental stewardship is important in my religious community. Our Seventh Principle charges us to "respect the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part." UU churches often seem to grow out of the very ground in which they're planted, with a preponderance of yurt-like buildings, and an emphasis on union with the environment.

This article discusses the missionary contribution of William Carey who challenged the Calvinist view prevalent among British Baptists nations that nations would be brought to Christ without human intervention or assistance. He challenged the theology that the Great Commission had been repealed and, together with Marshall and Ward, was daubed the Serampore Trio. Successful missionary activities in India earned him personally the Wycliffe of the East and Father of Modern Missions.

This article highlights five Christian Missions that have served in Haiti for decades. They are staffed by mostly native Haitians and the Americans that are in service have taken the time and attention to learn the culture and ethnic nuances of the people. These missions do not deserve to be lumped with the Idaho missionaries. These missions deserve your prayers and support so they can continue the good work they perform.

The East is very different from the West in how it establishes value. Often, we understand someone that we are listening to based upon what we know about that person, or "where they're coming from"... where they live, what they do for a living, are they single or married and with or without children, etc. This lesson is designed to give you a glimpse of "where Jesus was coming from" and where He was trying to lead our minds.

After a decade and a half of the "information superhighway" there are very few claims made for the Internet that people won't believe. Of course, simply surfing random waves of facts and figures will never lead to wisdom, but using today's online resources for continuing education clearly leads to better trained, up-to-date professionals. For medical professionals, in fact, most states and federal certifications require CEUs (Continuing Education Units) to maintain good standing, and these are increasingly available online.

Distance learning and adult education are certainly in the spotlight at the moment. As economic problems spur individuals to improve their CVs or consider a change in career, and universities begin to offer more and more distance and e-Learning courses, now seems the perfect time for adults to think about going back to school. But adult education is not only about teaching older learners new skills and subjects, it also has a wider social importance - and can achieve far more.
