Gas has gotten more and more expensive over this past year. For those of us who love taking summer vacations with our friends, family, and loved ones, this is a depressing thought. It's impacting not only the price of filling up our own personal gas tanks, but also the price of airfare, cruises, and all other forms of transportation to get us out of town on our vacations. However, there is no need to worry! Here in Boston, we live in a world-class city, and in all of our travels around the country and world, we have really taken that fact for granted.

In your average family, there are a couple of coming of age moments, usually revolving around a bar/bat mitzvah, a confirmation, graduation, sweet sixteen or having your first legal drink with your parents. I'll tell you what. When my kids don't call me once in awhile, it makes me nuts! I gotta change my paradigm on this topic. It would be easy to come up with a list of reasons why I might personally like or need to hear from my offspring. We could dabble in the idea of feeling loved, or appreciated or that even something we had to say might be helpful or encouraging, but we won't. That's all the standard stuff. Let's try a new approach.

Many New Year's resolutions can be difficult to keep. With the fervor of the New Year's Eve party, the grandeur of the fireworks display, or the heartwarming gathering of family and friends, you are bound to get carried away by making promises and resolutions that are actually beyond your ability to sustain. You may wish to do more work in the New Year, engage in more exercise, lose more weight, cut out a bad habit, or simply get richer.
